Eurozone crisis seems far from over. After Greece, Italy is now threatened as a scourge for the EU. When that happens, overcoming Italy is much more complex than the smaller Greek

The fact was recognized very well by the Prime Minister of Finland Jyrki Katainen. According to the PM, Tuesday (8 / 11), italian too big to bailout and the euro zone must take decisive action and stop making empty promises.

“It’s hard to see how we in Europe will have the resources to cover the entire national debt of Italy,” said Katainen to parliament.

Katainen said, the entire euro zone suffered because countries such as Italy which has been one to take care of their public finances and destroy the confidence that their debt will be paidback.

“If the reform program to be empty promises, it is difficult to restore trust,” he said to emphasize that “restoring market confidence requires a decisive commitment to reform and pro-active.”

Finnish prime minister noted that one of the structural weakness of the euro zone is that confidence in the euro at the beginning of the financial crisis has created a false sense of security even in the weakest economies in the bloc.

“Under the auspices of the euro zone, they receive too much cheap credit.”

Many Eurozone leaders have hoped that they can rescue Greece’s imminent bankruptcy through more debt, fiscal austerity, privatization and reform and postpone the inevitable until 2013, when the European Stability Mechanism (ESM) should provide an orderly planned state insolvency.

UBS AG, which operates in more than 40 countries and considered as the world’s second largest manager of private wealth assets, with over CHF 2.2 trillion in invested assets, thinks otherwise. The company believes a default will be triggered before the end of the year. “The ‘voluntary’ debt restructuring agreed on over the summer is already likely to saddle Greece with a selective default rating,” said UBS Research Focus in October 2011, “and we would go so far as to say that the country can no longer escape a full default.”

The prediction now seems ominous after prime minister Papandreou announced an unexpected decision to hold a poll on additional budget cuts as conditions for a second aid package. Faced with the possible disintegration of the single currency project, European leaders chose to treat Greece’s December referendum on the terms of a bailout package as an in-or-out vote on the nation’s future in the currency union. “The referendum will revolve around nothing less than the question: does Greece want to stay in the euro, yes or no?” German Chancellor Angela Merkel told reporters before a Group of 20 summit set to begin in Cannes, France.

On the next obvious question: will a full default in Greece cause the debt crisis to escalate out of control? UBS AG believes that the contagion will be contained eventually with substantial monetary and political cost. The European Central Bank (ECB) has both the means and the flexibility to stop contagion. The crisis may spread to Portugal but Spain and Italy have no need to default on their debt.

The Greece crisis is not just an EU problem, but also a potential trans-Atlantic financial crisis as banks on either side of Atlantic are interlinked. The Federal Reserve has engaged in currency swaps with the European Central Bank to support the dollar needs of EU banks. The ECB deposits euros with the Fed and receives dollars in return. ECB promises to repay in dollars but it only has direct control on euros hence there is a counterparty risk to the Fed and ultimately to American taxpayers. International Monetary Fund will be drawn in bailouts and will extract large funds from its members, which eventually make up loss from the taxpayers.

You may think that there is no need for your church to have church fundraising guidelines, but it never hurts to have them. With all the different groups of people interacting for a fundraising effort it is helpful to draw up some guidelines that will make clear the boundaries of fundraising, and what is expected from everyone on all sides.

Having clear church fundraising guidelines is an easy way to make sure that everyone involved in your church fundraiser knows exactly what is expected of them, which is important.

Guidelines are just a simple way to outline the church’s code of fundraising ethics, and its expectations for fundraising conduct. This can be especially helpful if you tend to have large fundraising teams or teams with kids on them, as it may result in people who aren’t aware of what they can and cannot do. Having clear church guidelines can help avoid any confusion.

Your church fundraising guidelines document does not have to be drawn up in legal jargon – it can be as simple as a list of rules for how fundraising should be conducted. There are two aspects to writing up a set of guidelines: the points defining how fundraising teams behave when presenting their church fundraising to the public, and the points defining how the church handles funds once they have come in. For example, it should be made clear in the church guidelines that fundraising teams will never misrepresent or conceal the purpose of their fundraising. They should also behave in a manner consistent with the standards of the church.

The church itself should outline in its church fundraising guidelines the ways in which it plans to keep track of the money that is spent, and how it will make that information available to the public. Strong and consistent rules help keep everyone on the doing the right thing, and help make sure everyone is on the same page.

One of the most important and sometimes overlooked strategies to maximize giving at your benefit auction is to include a “Fund-A-Need” program. Charities around the world have been utilizing this method to energize their auctions and inspire their guests, increasing their revenues dramatically. This program should address a specific need of your organization and directly involve the donors in your cause, making them feel a greater commitment to your organization. If done correctly, you will never regret it.

So why should you utilize a “Fund A Need” program? Shouldn’t the auction be sufficient to draw in the donations that will be available? One of the reasons is that there will always be “losing” bidders at your auction. These guests came and attempted to give their money to your organization but the potential donation is still in their pocket. Occasionally, there will also be guests who are not fond of the competition of an auction or are not interested in the items for sale. They are also there to give, but need another means to do it. The direct appeal for a specific need allows every type of giver to become involved. It does not limit participation to those at certain levels of giving. Surprisingly, more money is often raised during the “Fund-A-Need” program than throughout the auction itself. Just as important, it inspires the guests at your event and makes them more aware of your organization’s needs.

If “Fund-A-Need” programs are so successful, why do some charity organizations avoid them? One of the most common reasons is being unaware of the revenues possible. For the most part, the staff members of charity organizations are not experienced with professional auctions and are unequipped to set up such a program. Some believe that it will cause the event to become too lengthy. Therefore, they prioritize the awards presentations or the entertainers over the “Fund A Need” program and they miss the most important part of their event – generating revenue. They may feel that they are “overdoing” the request for giving because they are already including a silent auction and a live auction. But remember the mindset of your guests. By attending your event, they are already showing their support for your organization, with their presence and their wallets. The “Fund-A-Need” program will invite them to be a more influential donor and give them an ownership in the process. People want to give more when they feel that they truly are a part of something special.

To plan your event, speak to your professional charity auctioneer. Together, you will be able to create a fun and effective program. If done correctly, your guests will be entertained and motivated to help achieve your goals.

Grant writing is not creative writing. It is a form of technical writing in which you respond to prompts as you write to a rubric. Aligning your proposal with the questions in the grant application is a key to smart grant writing – although, surprisingly, many grant writers don’t do this.

A section called “Scoring Criteria” or “Selection Criteria” appears in almost every RFP (request for proposal, which is what a grant application is often called). This section contains the list of questions you must answer in your grant narrative to score points. Organize your entire proposal after the organization of these questions. Answering questions in the order they are asked makes it easier for a reader to score your grant. You don’t want to make it hard for the reader to figure out where in your proposal you answer each question!

Here are a few more grant writing tips along this line:

1. Turn the questions in the scoring criteria into statements to use as headings in your grant narrative.
2. Answer each question separately instead of weaving several questions together – as much as space limitations allow.
3. Use words and phrases from the questions in the scoring criteria when expressing your answers to further clarify which question you are answering.
4. Pay close attention to any required elements, such as mandatory performance measures in federal grants, and make them stand out in the section of the proposal in which they are supposed to be mentioned.

In short, do everything you can to mark your grant proposal for easy scoring. Clear organization according to the scoring criteria in the RFP is characteristic of successful grant writing.

Now I would like to invite you to receive more practical, credible grant writing tips that will help you turn words into money for your organization.

Many schools have found themselves facing budget cuts in recent years. In order to offset these cuts, many are turning to fundraising in order to raise money for after school programs and other school needs. Here are a few great fundraising ideas to help your school raise some money.

For agricultural programs, selling fruits is a great way to earn some money. People are more likely to spend money on things they will actually use. Fruit is perfect to sell in late fall for delivery before Christmas. This allows people to order fruit baskets or create their own to give as gifts.

A great fundraising idea for smaller children is candles. Many people burn candles in the fall and also give them as gifts. This type of fundraiser can be done any time of year but will probably be more successful in fall and winter.

For summer programs, car washes are always a hit. Many local businesses will allow students to set up in their parking lots free of charge.

Shirts are always a popular seller. Custom Sweatshirts can be designed to promote most any school event. They are great for football season and other sports. In order to make them more unique, the school could hold a contest allowing students to create designs and vote on a winner.

No matter which fundraiser you choose for your school program, the key to success is proper advertising. This is a great opportunity to teach students about the need for marketing and how a marketing campaign can either make or break an event.

If you are involved in the PTA at your school, you may have come across the sad reality that funding is not what it used to be for most schools. This means that being a part of the school PTA will probably involve you having to organize a PTA fundraising effort at some point. If you want to make sure that your school has everything it needs financially, setting up some school fundraisers can really help the school out with its goals.

When you start your PTA fundraising effort, you’ll want to gather everyone for a meeting to discuss the details. Figure out exactly how much money is needed, and what exactly the money will be going for. If you can figure out exactly how much effort you’ll have to make with your school fundraising, that can help make things easier.

After that, you just need to find some PTA fundraisers that will be appropriate for your group. You will need to take into account the size of your fundraising team, and the people you intend to sell to. There are school PTA fundraising ideas from candy bars to green fundraisers, so you just need to make sure that the program you choose fits well with your customer base.

If you expect the students to be heavily involved, chocolate bars can work well for example. It just depends on where and to whom you plan to conduct your PTA fundraising effort.

Fundraisers are just a normal part of being in the PTA these days, but that doesn’t mean they can’t be rewarding, as well. Keep in mind that your PTA and the school will benefit directly from this school PTA fundraising, because knowing that there’s a point to all of this can really help keep everyone on track psychologically.

Band is a popular extracurricular activity, but with the rising costs of participating, a lot of bands are really feeling the financial pinch. Bands fundraisers are becoming more and more of a fact of life for bands where the school simply cannot provide the funds required to keep things running.

If you are in charge of organizing the band fundraiser, this is a great opportunity for you to make sure that the much-needed cash finally starts coming in, but of course you want to choose a fundraising idea that will be the most effective.

Chocolate may seem really passé, but there’s a reason this fundraiser for bands is still so popular: it works. People love chocolate, there’s no way around that, and you may as well take advantage of the situation and go with a sure-fire winner. If you can get permission for the band to do their fundraising on school grounds, say, at pep rallies and lunch periods, this sort of student-oriented fundraiser can be a real profit-maker.

Scratch cards can also be an effective fundraiser for bands, and scratch cards work particularly well with small groups. This high profit fundraiser can yield up to 90% profit on your investment, and the cards are so easy to carry around that the band members can do their fundraiser anywhere and everywhere the opportunity presents itself. Scratch cards also work well because they are a direct-sale fundraiser that doesn’t require much logistical organization. There’s no shipping to worry about or products to distribute later.

These are just samples of the sort of fundraiser for bands you could do.

If you are looking for an auctioneer to sell at your next benefit auction, you have probably been in attendance at a fundraising auction before. We can probably all imagine the unfortunate Cub Scout parent or soccer team mom thrown out on stage to auction off a cake at the next bake sale. They do their best, of course, and they cannot be blamed for the result. Hopefully, you can all picture another bake sale with a professional auctioneer. What makes the difference? One of the most essential qualities is that he is a smooth speaker.

Whether he admits it or not, an auctioneer is a performer. He must love to speak to an audience. This characteristic is pretty rare in itself. Most statistics list the fear of public speaking as the number one fear, even over the fear of death! A confident charity auctioneer can work “on the fly”, feeling out his audience, and adjusting his techniques to fit the occasion. He takes control of the crowd and directs the proceedings with ease. Some organizations even use the auctioneer as the master of ceremonies. Why not? He is a natural at the job anyway and many charity volunteers are not. The product of a great benefit auctioneer is a happy, excited crowd and you cannot get unless he is a dynamic speaker.

Some auctioneers regularly work in auction environments that do not have a lot of crowd interaction. Many auction audiences are professional bidders, need no explanations, and are not there to have fun. The money raised goes to a business or person selling it. The main objectives are only speed and price. The buyers or sellers may even be dealers who are interested only in the profits they can make. There is no cause or charity to speak of, it’s just business.

Benefit auctions are very different and require a speaking talent. The charity auctioneer becomes the ambassador for your organization. He must portray his own belief in the cause through his words and ignite the crowd’s commitment to it. It is a different kind of show. And yes, an auction is a show. What the audience and your guests enjoy is the performance. Having the right auctioneer play the role is vital!

Alfred Taubman, the wealthy philanthropist and owner of Sotheby’s auction house, said, “God help us if we ever take the theatre out of the auction business or anything else. It would be an awfully boring world.”

Generating money for a school’s fundraiser requires innovative and creative ideas in order to make it a huge success. Aside from sending solicitation letters from prospective donors, you can also try selling postcards. These prints can be printed in bulk with online postcard printing services. Online printing companies provide postcard print templates in their website that are very useful in designing your prints. You can browse through their print templates if you are looking for a postcard design for your school’s fundraiser. Creating your postcards is easy with these photo postcard ideas:

• Sports Team: Die-hard fans will definitely buy your postcards as memorabilia. Use photos of the team while competing against their rivals, so fans can relive the excitement of the game. You can also take candid photos of the athletes while hanging out at the gym, training, or walking around the campus. Ask the athletes to sign the postcards to make them more marketable. Price the autographed postcards higher than the other ones to earn more funds for your school’s charitable deeds.

• Clubs and Organizations: Feature different organization and club members at work. Highlight club activities and public events such as regional finals, student conventions, and cheerleading competitions.

• Graduation Ball: You can take photos of seniors during graduation ball and add messages on the postcard to make them more special. Sell the postcards during graduation day for seniors to have their memorable keepsake. They can even ask friends to sign their postcards and write their farewell messages for each other.

• Photos by Students: Approach students with excellent photography skills and ask permission to feature their photos on your postcards. Photo enthusiasts will most likely purchase postcards from you as collectibles. Remember that the higher the impact of the photos, the more marketable your postcards will be.

With these postcard photo ideas in mind, you will be able to collect the money you need for your fundraiser. Enhance the look of the photos by having your postcards printed by a reputable online printing company.
